TRUMP VS. REPUBLICAN ESTABLISHMENT----WHO'S WINNING?

In the fight between President Trump and his less than impressive Republican Leadership, anchor Bret Baier posed this question to the all-star panel: “Can Trump salvage his relationship with Republicans?“

Prefaced with video clips of Steve Bannon, (in a 60 Minutes interview), saying “the Republicans were put on notice that they will be held accountable if they do not support the President‘s agenda”, and several other Republican reactions to Trump’s decision to strike a deal with the Democrats.

Washington Times opinion editor Charlie Hurt touted the fact that Donald Trump “got on the map first and foremost” by defeating Republicans, and, that “it should be at no surprise, [that Trump cut a deal with Democrats], since the Republicans couldn’t pass the ObamaCare Repeal that not only Trump campaigned on, but so did many of these same Republicans.” (paraphrased)

The often predictable political pundit Jonah Goldberg retorted with “Most Republicans in Congress did better in the 2016 elections than Trump did”, followed by a typical “establishment” defense.

(Note: this video below is the full show of Special Report.  You can watch the "lightening round" starting at 33:23, where you’ll get a full fledged, [Republican Establishment], defense from Goldberg, complete with “Bannon’s claim that the Republican Establishment is attempting to nullify a Presidential Election is utterly ridiculous”)

As a good friend pointed out, candidate Trump had tremendous influence in the down-ballots across the nation, and in some key races---a fact Goldberg chooses to ignore.
